Trauma and hardship changes families
Research demonstrates that trauma and consistent hardship through medical, physical, and/or emotional need has a significant impact on individual family members, their relationships with each other, and overall family functioning.
According to the special needs parenting journal, as many as 87% of caregivers develop burnout, compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma, and/or secondary traumatic stress. This leaves families disempowered, overwhelmed, anxious, and hopeless.
